Manchester City have once again turned their attention towards Rodrygo, with a recent report from Fichajes revealing that the Brazilian forward is on the Premier League champions’ radar.

Notably, the interest is far from new. In fact, Rodrygo has long been admired by Pep Guardiola, who sees him as a player capable of thriving in his demanding tactical system.

Rodrygo’s situation at Real Madrid has become increasingly uncertain in recent months.

Once considered a regular and trusted option in attack, the Brazilian has seen his prominence reduced, particularly as competition in the squad has intensified.

This dip in status has raised questions about his long-term role in the Spanish capital.

Injuries have hampered his progress

The change in management is likely to play a key role in determining what happens with his future.

At present, Rodrygo has not been able to play under new manager Alvaro Arbeloa due to fitness concerns.

However, he has been cleared to play against Villarreal and his performances in La Ceramica is likely to make an impression on Arbeloa.

Meanwhile, Guardiola is pushing strongly behind the scenes, as the City manager is said to have personally reached out to Rodrygo.

He has outlined an ambitious sporting project and explained how the Brazilian could become a central figure at the Etihad.

Man City seem serious

Within Man City, Rodrygo is viewed as a player who has not yet reached his ceiling.

Guardiola considers him a rough diamond, someone who still has untapped potential and could take a major leap forward in the right environment.

They believe they can provide that platform, offering both stability and a system designed to maximise attacking talent.

Should Rodrygo decide to leave Madrid, City are prepared to move aggressively. The promise of regular playing time, a clearly defined role, and the opportunity to become a global star are central to their pitch.
