Man City boss confirms injury blow ahead of Bayern Munich bout | OneFootball

Manchester City Women will be without Iman Beney for their Champions League clash with Bayern Munich after the midfielder suffered a head injury.

Beney picked up the problem during Friday’s 4-2 WSL win over Liverpool and has not travelled with the squad for the Champions League fixture.

“Yeah, it’s a little bit of a decision made during the day that she is not at the moment ready to travel,” City boss Andree Jeglertz said.

Jeglertz otherwise confirmed the players included in City’s travelling squad have recovered well from the weekend’s league action and are available for selection.

Asked whether everyone else was ready to play, he added: “Yes, absolutely. The ones that we have reported in [the squad], yes.”

The City boss is expecting periods where Bayern dominate possession and says his side must avoid dropping too deep when the German side build momentum.

“Coming into the Munich game tomorrow where there are periods they are a little bit better on the ball and have the momentum, we need to be good in dealing with that and not sinking too low or conceding scoring chances,” Jeglertz said.

“That’s important, to make those periods as short as possible, but when they are, to respect them and really be on our toes and deal with that.

“If we do that, I’m pretty sure that when we have our momentum we have the quality to punish them.”
