Rosenborg loan star Emil Ceide believes that teenage midfielder Sverre Nypan, who is heading to Manchester City after they beat Aston Villa to his signature, is a “mega talent”.
The young Norwegian midfielder has been around the Rosenborg first-team since 2022 and has notched up 70 appearances at senior level.
He has also been part of various youth set-ups for his country, Norway, and has been tipped to go to the very top.
Aston Villa looked all set to scoop him up with a deal all but agreed in April, but while he was impressed with the club’s vision, he changed tack and is joining Manchester City.
A plan was presented to him by the Cityzens and now a €15m transfer fee has been agreed to seal the signature of Nypan.
While the initial plan for the Sky Blues is to send him out on loan, he has been given endorsement by his Rosenborg team-mate, Ceide.
According to Ceide, Nypan is a mega talent and someone who is an absolute joy to play with.
“I love playing with Sverre”, Ceide told Norwegian channel TV 2.
“He is a mega talent that every team in the world wants.”
Acknowledging the interest Nypan had been drawing from elsewhere, the Sassuolo-contracted player added: “I understand that there is a lot of interest in him.”
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been vocal about decreasing the size of his squad this summer.
There is expected to be significant activity in the transfer market from the Sky Blues and Nypan is just a part of it.
It remains to be seen how the 18-year-old does at Manchester City and whether Aston Villa are left with further cause to regret having their swoop hijacked.
