Man City chairman insists club remain confident of proving their innocence – and says Premier League process still has ‘a long way to run’ | OneFootball

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has told supporters the club remain fully confident of proving their innocence after reports that they have been found guilty on almost all of the Premier League charges against them.

Al Mubarak issued a direct message to fans after Friday’s reports, insisting the legal process still has “a long way to run” and that City’s position has not changed.

“I have been part of this Club for 18 years,” Al Mubarak said. “I have had the privilege to stand with you in the Etihad, at Wembley, and in Istanbul.

“This club matters to me, and you have shown and told me – time and time again – how much Manchester City matters to you. This is why I am writing to you today.”

The City chairman acknowledged supporters will have faced questions about the latest reports but reiterated that the club continue to deny wrongdoing.

“The Premier League process still has a long way to run, and our confidence and intent in proving the Club’s innocence is just as strong as when this began,” he said.

Al Mubarak added that City are restricted in what they can say publicly because of the confidentiality surrounding the proceedings.

“There are so many things that I would like to be able to share with you to help you understand why we feel so confident in our position,” he continued.

“But the strict confidentiality of the legal process and our determination to respect it means I cannot do that at the moment. Even this letter underwent several legal checks to make sure it complies.”

He urged supporters to read closely both the club’s response issued on Friday and its original statement from February 2023, when the Premier League charges were first announced.

And despite the latest scrutiny surrounding the club, Al Mubarak insisted City would not allow the situation to distract them.

“While some people have been quick to reach their own conclusions, and there is so much noise swirling around us, nothing has changed,” he said.

“We have faced challenges together before and have prevailed. There remain many who want to undermine the momentum of our Club. We will not give them that opportunity.”

Al Mubarak also pointed towards City’s upcoming fixtures after the international break, with a trip to Liverpool followed by a Champions League home game against Paris Saint-Germain.

“We have some exciting moments to look forward to after this international break,” he added.

“We travel to Anfield in a fortnight, and then host Paris St Germain in the Champions League back at Etihad Stadium – moments that give us an opportunity to celebrate the strength of the Manchester City family.

“Thank you, as always, for your constant support.”
