Just days before the 2025 /26 season begins Manchester City have announced the departure of one of their most influential behind the scenes figures Txiki Begiristain the club’s Director of Football.

End of Era at the Etihad

In official statement, the club confirmed that the Spanish executive's leaving his post after 13 remarkable year during which he played vital role in shaping the club's modern era of dominance.

Begiristain joined City in 2012 becoming a key architect of the club’s success across multiple fronts.

During his tenure, City captured 21 major title including:

His strategic vision in the transfer market and behind the scenes leadership were hailed by the club as "transformational"

Tribute on Derby Day

City revealed plans to honor Begiristain with special tribute during the Manchester Derby against United on 14 Sept where he'll attend as guest of honor.

A documentary titled "Goodbye Txiki" is also in production by City Studios charting his journey from star player to executive mastermind.
