It was another heavily rotated side from Pep Guardiola has the majority of his stars remain on holiday after the European Championships earlier in the summer.

Despite that, City took an early lead when rising star Oscar Bobb picked out fellow Norwegian talent Erling Haaland for a simple finish in front of goal.

Milan responded well however, and it was the unlikely source of youngster Lorenzo Colombo who bagged a four-minute brace to take the lead.

City’s youngsters launched a response of their own after the break and they reclaimed parity thanks to a superb Micah Hamilton cross which found the head of James McAtee from close-range.

While it looked like the tie would fizzle out, Milan snatched a late winner thanks to Marco Nasti from the edge of the box.
