That's all from us today. Thanks for following what was a memorable final!
...and here's Mikel Arteta: "We really wanted to lift that trophy today. It was two very different halves, especially the first half when I think we were better than them and had the best two chances of the game. We didn't capitalise on that. Credit to them for what we have done. A really sad day... We had eight amazing months with this team. Today is a disappointment. We need to use that fire in the belly for the next two months to have an incredible season."
Pep Guardiola's post-match thoughts: "Winning a trophy is important but this one is special. The first 15 minutes, they suffocated us. We could not breathe. After that we won some second balls and started to play... I'm really pleased because I know the opponent we faced. Mikel has created a team that is almost unbeatable"
We're still waiting to hear the thoughts of both managers after the game. As soon as they start speaking, we'll bring you the latest.
City in front of Wembley's royal box and have just lifted the three-handled trophy courtesy of captain Bernardo Silva. The first silverware of the season is heading back to Manchester. Will there be more by the end of May?
Nico O'Reilly, the official Man of the Match, is talking to Sky Sports "Unbelievable feeling. To win a final, obviously to beat this team - we know how good they are - and build our momentum, I'm absolutely buzzing today... A great birthday weekend!"
FULL TIME
Manchester City have done it again! A ninth EFL Cup victory and their fifth under Pep Guardiola, now the competition's most successful manager, after a superb second half performance. Arsenal were decidedly second-best following the interval.
City send on Phil Foden for Cherki just as the board goes up for four additional minutes at the end of this final
CHANCE!
A good spell of City build-up sees Doku shape to shoot on the edge of the box but drags it wide.
CHANCE!
That's as close as the Gunners have come in this half as Jesus' looping header comes back off the crossbar. What a moment that would've been for the Brazilian against his old club.
Arsenal fans filing out of Wembley with five minutes of normal time to play. It's hard to blame them after their team's second-half collapse. The quadruple dream went out the window in just four minutes.
Arteta really was done dirty by FIFA career mode!
Arsenal going for broke with Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus on for Leandro Trossard and Ben White. The latter change means Rice is now operating at left-back for the Premier League leaders
CHANCE!
Declan Rice whips in a free kick which Riccardo Calafiori gets a head to but Trafford collects comfortably.
You get the impression City's players are enjoying themselves out there!
The City manager was actually booked for his moment of exuberance, not that he will care much if his side can see this one out.
Pep Guardiola's literally dancing down the Wembley touchline, and well he might. He's now in touching distance of becoming the most successful manager in the EFL Cup's history!
GOAL! Arsenal 0-2 Man City
It's O'Reilly at the double! The full-back gets his head on a cross to the far post. Is that game over for Arsenal?
GOAL! Arsenal 0-1 Man City
We finally have a breakthrough as Nico O'Reilly puts Pep Guardiola's side ahead! The homegrown star pounces on Kepa's fumble of a Cherki cross. What a moment to mark your 21st birthday, too!
CHANCE!
Matheus Nunes plays a brilliant through ball for Haaland, who bears down on goal but William Saliba gets a vital interception to take the ball away from danger
CHANCE!
Semenyo cuts inside and flashes a shot wide of Kepa's righthand post. It's a bit better than his last effort but not by much.
City have a real bit between their teeth in this half and are putting Arsenal on the back foot at the moment
CHANCE!
From the ensuing free kick Semenyo sends an effort dipping off target. He should have really done better, there.
CHANCE!
What is Kepa doing there!? The Arsenal goalkeeper comes out of his area to try and thwart Jérémy Doku but ends up getting tangled with the Man City man and picks up a booking for his trouble.
CHANCE!
Rayan Cherki and Semenyo combine before Haaland gets a shot on which has the sting taken out of it and Kepa Arrizabalaga hoovers up the loose ball
SECOND HALF
Off we go again
HALF TIME
It's all-square at the break. Arsenal looked the more comfortable but City definitely grew into the half. A really tough final to call one way or the other.
CHANCE!
Semenyo weaves down the right and sends a cross in for Haaland but his header is off target
CHANCE!
An Arsenal corner from Saka is met at the far post by Piero Hincapié but his header is off target
CHANCE!
Antoine Semenyo whips in a cross from the right which Erling Haaland can't meet before the follow-up cross is deflected for a corner.
A slice of history for City's homegrown goalkeeper this afternoon
England boss Thomas Tuchel has a watching brief over today's final, as you'd expect for a major game at Wembley with several of his latest squad inclusions featuring.
CHANCE!
Arsenal are the first to threaten and force James Trafford into a triple save, first from Kai Havertz and the back-to-back efforts by Buyako Saka
KICK OFF
We're officially off and running!
There's key absences for each team with Rúben Dias out for City through injury while Eberechi Eze and Jurriën Timber are in the same camp for the Gunners.
Here's how both are lining up:

Master faces apprentice at the national stadium as Pep Guardiola goes toe-to-toe with Mikel Arteta. Both managers are still fighting it out for the Premier League title but a victory today could just give their respective sides a lift on the run-in.
