Man City eye move for Tottenham target Iliman Ndiaye after Cody Gakpo deal collapses | OneFootball

Manchester City have made contact with Iliman Ndiaye’s camp as they consider a move for the Everton winger, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Citizens looked to be closing in on a deal to sign Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo, but the Reds rejected their offer of around £80 million, forcing them to turn to Ndiaye.

Tottenham Hotspur also looked close to signing Ndiaye, but with Richarlison refusing to go the other way, the deal has stalled. 

Man City can now pounce and sign Ndiaye, who bagged six goals and three assists in 32 Premier League appearances last term.

He has started the current campaign on fire, bagging an assist in Everton’s Premier League opener against Bournemouth.

His versatility allows him to operate across the frontline, just like Omar Marmoush, who recently left the FA Cup champions to join Spurs. 

Ndiaye brings a serious X-factor in attack ahead of what could be a challenging campaign for the transitioning Man City.

Ndiaye is a trusted Premier League operator and will be a potent weapon in the hands of new boss Enzo Maresca if he moves to Manchester.

A move to join Maresca might be more appealing than working with Roberto De Zerbi at Tottenham. 

The Italian tactician wrung him out at Marseille, and it might be better for the Senegal international to play under a manager who respects his talent.

Man City have completed the signing of Palmeiras winger Allan for £34 million. The pacy right-winger will likely replace Savio in the squad.

Elsewhere, City are focused on signing Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez. The 25-year-old wants to join his former manager at the Etihad Stadium. 

A deal is proving difficult as Chelsea want over £120m to let him leave, while City reportedly prefer to pay less. It remains to be seen how the transfer plays out.
