Man City without their star striker for Carabao Cup test
Haaland has this season returned to the top of his game, scoring in 14 of his 15 games this season for club and country, including 15 in 12 games for City.
That run ended with a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa at the weekend, which saw Haaland think he had scored a late equaliser when colliding with the post, only for it to be ruled out.
The good news for City is their injury list is otherwise easing after Nico Gonzalez shook off a minor knock to appear as a second-half substitute against Villa.
With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest Man City injury news...

Erling Haaland picked up a knock in Manchester City’s loss at Villa Park while trying, and failing, to score a late equaliser.
It was the first time Haaland had failed to score for club or country since August, and was subsquently ruled out of the trip to Swansea in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
Speaking in the pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Pep Guardiola said: “Erling, I didn’t see him today but it was a knock and day by day is better.
“But now we train this afternoon and will know more exactly how does he feel.”
After the game, which saw Omar Marmoush and Rayan Cherki take up the goalscoring mantle, Guardiola was asked if Haaland will play this weekend. He replied: "I don't know yet, I hope so.”
Potential return date: Bournemouth (H) on Sunday, November 2, 2025
Rodri had to be replaced after just 22 minutes against Brentford in Man City’s final fixture before the October international break and has not featured since.
The midfielder did not join up with the Spain national team for their World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Bulgaria, before missing Man City’s games against Everton, Villarreal and Aston Villa.
Speaking ahead of the trip to Wales, Guardiola confirmed Rodri remains sidelined.
He told reporters: “Rodri is still not [ready]. He is getting better, training with us partially, but, of course, after what happened two times with the muscular injuries we are going to see how he is this week.”
As a result, it remains to be seen when Rodri will be available for selection again as the club are cautious with regards to rushing him back after such a long time on the sidelines last season.
Potential return date: Unknown
Abdukodir Khusanov has not featured since being forced off at half-time in Man City’s 1-1 draw against Arsenal last month, but is ready to return to action.
Initially, Guardiola said he expected the Uzbekistan international to miss three matches but Khusanov has now missed the last seven games in succession
Asked for an update on Tuesday, Guardiola confirmed that the young centre-back is “ready to play a few minutes [against Swansea].”
