City began the competition by topping Group A with eight points from three games.
That came from victories over Everton and Nottingham Forest, as well as a draw with Newcastle United - followed by a penalty shootout win.
An emphatic 5-1 victory at West Ham followed at the quarter-final stage, with goals from Kerolin, Lauren Hemp, Grace Clinton, Bunny Shaw and Laura Coombs.
Bompastor was not just a player of great distinction, she is widely considered one of the best French players ever.
She played 156 times for her national side and was a serial winner with Lyon in the club game.
Bompastor then became Lyon’s head coach in 2021 and was the first woman ever to win the Champions League as a player and a manager by the end of her first season in charge.
She also lifted the Division 1 Feminine in each of her three seasons at the helm before replacing the long-standing Emma Hayes at Chelsea in the summer of 2024.
A domestic Treble followed in her maiden campaign in England, continuing on the success of Hayes’ reign.
Chelsea were the last side to stop City from winning, beating us at Stamford Bridge on the opening day of the Barclays Women’s Super League season back in September.
Aggie Beever-Jones and Maika Hamano scored for the hosts before a Niamh Charles own goal gave us hope in the closing stages.
City booked our place in the fifth round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup with a 6-0 win at AFC Bournemouth.
The Blues picked off the Cherries on the south coast courtesy of goals from Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw, Lauren Hemp, Laura Coombs (two) and a second-half Vivianne Miedema brace.
It means Andrée Jeglertz’s side have extended our unbeaten streak in all competitions to 16 games, including 15 wins.
