Jaden Heskey has been made available for Championship and League One clubs this January by Manchester City

Manchester City youngster Jaden Heskey has been made available for loan this January to clubs in the Championship and League One, and a number of EFL clubs should be monitoring the situation.

Heskey, 19, is the son of former Liverpool and England striker Emile, and has been made available for loan this January by parent club Manchester City, as per Pete O'Rourke via X.

Heskey comes from a footballing family, with father Emile having made over 600 career appearances for the likes of Leicester City, Liverpool, Birmingham City and Aston Villa between 1994 and 2012.

His brother, Reigan Heskey, 17, is also in the Manchester City academy, with the pair having made their professional debuts together back in September in the Citizens' 2-0 victory away to Huddersfield Town in the EFL Cup, to which manager Pep Guardiola said, "I think their father and mother will be so proud of their kids. That's really cool."

When asked what type of players they are like, father Emile said, "They're similar to me. They are both very athletic.

"The young one is very quick. The older one is a bit of a beast, like I was.

Jaden, having started out his career as a striker, is now viewed as a more box-to-box midfielder, which is where he played in his brief cameo against Huddersfield.

Heskey has captained Manchester City's Under-21 side twice in the EFL Trophy this season, scoring twice in a 5-1 victory over Oldham Athletic, and has been made available for loan this winter, with interest in him certain to be high. Football League World has picked out three clubs that Heskey could realistically join on loan this January.

Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday will be well aware of Heskey, having been interested in him this summer, with the Owls opening talks with Man City over a potential loan deal, but with their numerous off-field issues, a deal was never completed.

The Owls squad was depleted over the summer, with the departures of the likes of Josh Windass, Djeidi Gassama and Anthony Musaba among a few who have left Henrik Pedersen clamoring to his youth side for options.

Southampton loanee Shea Charles left one of the biggest gaps in the centre of the park and was lauded for his performances in the midfield.

With Barry Bannan's evergreen performances reaching a new level this campaign, the lack of depth has not been felt too much, but the addition of Heskey would nonetheless be a welcome one as Wednesday look to defy the odds and avoid relegation this season.

Blackpool

It has been a turbulent campaign for Blackpool in League One this season.

With the additions of Fraser Horsfall, George Honeyman, Michael Ihiekwe, and Josh Bowler under the management of Steve Bruce, many fans and pundits alike were tipping the Tangerines to be in and amongst the play-off picture this campaign.

Bruce, who guided Blackpool to a ninth-place finish in the third tier last season, has ample experience of management in the Premier League and Championship, having been in charge of the likes of Newcastle United, Hull City and West Brom over the years.

However, the veteran gaffer was sacked after a disappointing start, leaving the club in the relegation places, with former Blackpool favourite Ian Evatt returning to the club where he played over 200 games, this time as manager.

Evatt will likely set up in a 3-5-2 system, meaning another body may be required in the midfield, and with Heskey available on loan, it could be a match made in heaven.

The 19-year-old would offer an alternative to Jordan Brown, Lee Evans, and Honeyman in the midfield, and still being much of an unknown quantity, could be an exciting addition at Bloomfield Road.

Plymouth Argyle

Like Blackpool, it hasn't been a particularly positive season for Plymouth Argyle.

Following relegation from the Championship last season, the Pilgrims' squad was decimated, as well as losing former manager Miron Muslic to German Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04, leaving them scrambling to replace him, landing on former Watford boss Tom Cleverley.

Plymouth scored 51 goals in the Championship last season, but only two of those goals, scored by two separate players (Julio Pleguezuelo and Joe Edwards), remain at the club, essentially meaning that they have lost 96% of their goals from last season.

It is, therefore, met with little surprise to see the club sit in 22nd place after 14 games with the worst defensive record in the entire league.

Pilgrims fans will be crying out for action to be taken this January to reshape the squad, and it wouldn't be a shock to see a loan move for Heskey to be explored.

Cleverley has preferred to set up in a 3-5-2 system, and another addition in the midfield would likely be welcomed as another option to Bradley Ibrahim, Caleb Watts, and Malachi Boateng.
