City begin the weekend seven points behind the leaders, having played one match fewer than the Gunners, after being held to a 2-2 draw by Nottingham Forest in their last league outing.

While Man City will attempt to overturn a three-goal deficit against Real Madrid in next week’s Champions League last-16 second leg, Guardiola claims if his side drop points against West Ham then the title race will be “over”.

Speaking on Friday, the Spaniard said: "West Ham. Now is West Ham.

"These kind of games it is hard. For many plans you have, it doesn't happen. You play the game you have to play and after the game will dictate whether you have a chance or not. It is difficult, yes.

"Not much dollars in the bank for us but we will see. Now is West Ham.

"The Premier League is the most difficult title, the Premier League I believe is the most difficult one and still we are there knowing that if we drop points it will be over."

Man City take on a West Ham side also in need of points in their battle for survival and Guardiola - who will not be on the touchline - has said his players are equally as motivated to claim victory.

“We are desperate [to win] too,” he added.

“With Nottingham Forest before. I always said when we arrive in the last 10 games, every team plays for something.

“For relegation for Champions League. Now there’s no second chances.”
