Manchester City kicked off their Club World Cup campaign with a controlled 2â0 victory over Wydad Casablanca in Philadelphia.
Despite a slick overall display in possession, the defining moments came early, with Phil Foden netting inside two minutes and JĂŠrĂŠmy Doku adding another just before halftime.
City weathered some resistance throughout and stifled Wydad in the latter stages, only to have defender Rico Lewis dismissed late on for what may have been a harsh red card.
Ederson â 7.5: A solid presence between the sticks with a couple of smart saves to thwart Wydadâs counterâattacks.
Nathan AkĂŠ â 6.5: Comfortable enough, though rarely tested; handled aerial threats without drama.
Vitor Reis â 6.5:Â A steady performance; contributed to building from the back but lacked attacking impact during the build-up.
Nico OâReilly â 7.0: He impressed. Solid on the ball, sharp in linkâup play, and defended intelligently. While not involved directly in goals, his composure helped City dominate midfield tempo.
Rico Lewis â 5.5: Displayed good energy and overlapping runs until the late red in the 88th minute.
Tijjani Reijnders â 7.5: Effective maintaining midfield balance and possession while fitting in seamlessly.
Phil Foden â 9.0: (Man of the Match) Scored the fastest goal of the tournament after just two minutes; later provided the corner for Dokuâs goal. A confidence-restoring performance.
Rayan Cherki â 6.5:Â The debutant showed flashes of creativity and linked well in midfield but faded as the game wore on.
Jeremy Doku â 8.0: Scored on the stroke of halftime with a composed finish from Fodenâs corner. Active and direct throughout, causing constant trouble.
Savinho â 6.5: A buzzing presence on the wing; delivered the shot that ended in Fodenâs opener and linked well throughout.
Omar Marmoush â 6.5: Worked hard and created space; had chances early on but couldnât convert them.
Rodri â 6.0 Brought on to maintain control in midfield; helped calm the pace after the break.
Oscar Bobb â 5.5 Offered fresh legs but had limited influence in the final third.
Erling Haaland â 6.0 Introduced at the hour mark and nearly added a third goal; lacked cutting edge but showed signs of sharpness.
İlkay GĂźndoÄan â Only on for the final 20 minutes and did little to deserve a full rating.
