The City captain has collected eight yellow cards this season, leaving him two cautions away from triggering an automatic two-match ban under Premier League rules. His latest booking arrived during Manchester City’s 2-1 win over Newcastle United, when referee Thomas Bramall cautioned him for a foul followed by dissent.
Of course, had Silva received even half the bookings he has deserved this season, he would already have this ban out of the way.
Premier League regulations impose a suspension once a player reaches 10 yellow cards before the completion of a club’s 32nd league fixture, with the count resetting afterwards.

Manchester City’s meeting with Arsenal is scheduled as their 33rd league game of the campaign, meaning any two further bookings in upcoming matches would likely see Silva suspended for the key game on April 18.
City face Leeds United, Nottingham Forest, West Ham United and Chelsea before that fixture, leaving little margin for error for the Portuguese midfielder, who has received 63 yellows in his time in Manchester.
