If you're a Manchester City supporter, it's fair to suggest that French international midfielder Rayan Cherki has exceeded expectations.
Arriving in a summer window meant to push Pep Guardiola's side back into the title fight after a disappointing 2024/25 Premier League season, the former Olympique Lyonnais star has quickly cemented his importance under the Spanish tactician.

While there has been so much rightful talk surrounding Phil Foden's resurgence, it's been Cherki that has perhaps been the most influential Citizen not named Erling Haaland in 2025/26, with the 22-year-old fast becoming one of the most creative minds in the English top flight.
With his assist for Tijjani Reijnder's opener against Nottingham Forest, the Lyon-born midfielder bagged his seventh assist of the current campaign, level with Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes.

Cherki would then go on to score City's second after Forest levelled through Omari Hutchinson six minutes after Reijnder's opener.
Between Haaland's otherworldly goalscoring form, Cherki's creativity, and Foden getting back to his best, it's no wonder many now view Man City as the main title favourites.
