Man City team news vs Crystal Palace

Man City will be four men short for Saturday’s clash. Erling Haaland recently returned to Pep Guardiola’s side after almost a six-week lay-off, with the striker making his first start since the end of March against Southampton last week.

John Stones suffered a thigh injury back in February and the England international is not expected to be back for the final.

Nathan Ake has been out since he was forced off at half-time during Man City’s win over Plymouth Argyle in the fifth round of the competition. The Dutchman had surgery on a fracture in his left foot and could be out for the season.

Oscar Bobb rolled his ankle in training last week and, while the issue is not believed to be serious, there are no signs of him being available.

Rodri was expected to be out until the end of the season after he ruptured his ACL last September. However, Guardiola revealed last he week that he is waiting until the doctors say the reigning Ballon d’Or winner is ready to start.

Palace’s 120-year drought

Since Crystal Palace were created as a professional club in 1905, they are yet to win a major trophy. The Eagles have twice been runners-up in the FA Cup, losing to Manchester United in 1990 and 2016.

The only honours the south London club have won are the English second tier (1978-79,1993-94) and third tier (1920-21) titles.

Palace’s roots can be traced back to 1861, making them one of the oldest clubs in the history of football.
