Concerns over the striker’s fitness

The striker was left out of the squad that faced Salford last weekend after picking up a knock against Fulham the week prior, and his condition is now being closely monitored ahead of the weekend. His absence would be a significant blow for City as they look to close the gap on title rivals Arsenal to two points.

Omar Marmoush would lead the line in Haaland’s absence.

There could be positive news on the flanks, though, with Jeremy Doku and fellow winger Savinho pushing to return. The Begian has been struggling with a calf problem, while his team-mate is nursing a quad injury.

It is unlikely that the pair will come straight back into the starting line-up, with Rayan Cherki, Antoine Semenyo, Tijjani Reijnders and Phil Foden all options for the weekend.

Young defender Max Alleyne could also return, having been forced off during the FA Cup win over Salford, but Josko Gvardiol and Mateo Kovacic remain sidelined for the foreseeable. Abdukodir Khusanov played the full 90 minutes against Salford, opening the door for Matheus Nunes to start at right-back.

Nico O'Reilly should continue his midfield role, having scored against Fulham, alongside Rodri, who had a cameo off the bench last time out.

Manchester City predicted XI: Donnarumma; Nunes, Guehi, Dias, Ait-Nouri; Bernardo, Rodri, O’Reilly; Cherki, Haaland, Semenyo

Doubts: Haaland, Savinho, Doku, Alleyne

Injured: Kovacic, Gvardiol
