Goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes ensured all three points for United, making Carrick only the third manager in the club’s history to win his first four matches in charge.

As it Happened

Manchester United threatened early, with Bryan Mbeumo firing over the bar as the hosts began on the front foot, creating attacking openings inside the opening two minutes.

Tottenham were awarded a free-kick after Luke Shaw brought down Gallagher, but United dealt with the delivery and won a throw-in to clear their lines.

Manchester United controlled possession in the opening ten minutes and fashioned a second opening through Casemiro, whose effort was comfortably saved by Vicario.

Tottenham’s first chance followed soon after, but Gallagher’s attempt posed little trouble for Lammens.

Solanke slipped as Spurs threatened again, allowing Mbeumo to regain possession and spark a United counterattack that ultimately came to nothing.

United threatened again in the 20th minute as Cunha fired narrowly over the bar, and the hosts could have extended their advantage further through Bruno Fernandes.

Destiny Udogie was the first name to go into the referee’s book after dragging Amad to the ground, earning a yellow card.

Romero was dismissed for a dangerous challenge on Casemiro, reducing his side to ten men.

The game was stopped in the 33rd minute as Luke Shaw and Conor Gallagher required treatment after a head collision, but both players were fine to continue.

Fernandes then forced a corner after his effort was deflected by a Spurs defender.

From the short routine he found Mbeumo, who made no mistake, calmly finishing into the net.

Casemiro nearly made it 2–0 with a header, but Vicario was equal to it, and United’s follow-up corner failed to create a chance.

United take a 1–0 advantage into halftime, having kept a clean sheet so far.

United picked up where they left off in the first half, quickly looking dangerous in attack.

Amad thought he had doubled the lead, only for the goal to be chalked off for offside.

The Red Devils came close to going six up, with opportunities falling to Luke Shaw, Fernandes, Diogo Dalot, and Amad Diallo, but none could find the net.

Benjamin Sesko came on for Cunha late in the second half to strengthen United’s attacking options.

With just ten minutes left, Fernandes sealed United’s second goal, expertly converting a cross from Dalot. Sesko had a chance before the final whistle but it was an easy save for the Spurs keeper.

The result saw Manchester United beat Tottenham at Old Trafford for the first time since October 2024, while also keeping a clean sheet.

Carrick has become the third Man United manager since Sir Matt Busby and Ole Gunnar Solskjær to win his first four matches in charge.

Next up for Manchester United is a Trip to the London Stadium to face West Ham on Tuesday evening, with Carrick hoping to continue his sides winning streak.

Spurs host Newcastle at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, in search of their first Premier League win of 2026.
