Two Albion loanees look more-than likely to be exiting The Hawthorns when the transfer window re-opens
West Brom could be set to lose two of their summer signings within the next week-and-a-half, with both Toby Collyer and Samuel Iling Jr being tipped to return to their parent clubs.
The Baggies have had an incredibly indifferent first half of the 2025-26 Championship campaign under Ryan Mason, whose first full-time head coach job is proving to be slightly more difficult than perhaps expected.
Heading into Christmas, the Midlands outfit sit 16th in the second tier standings, albeit they are only seven points off the top six compared to nine points above the relegation zone, but there may need to be some freshening up of Mason's squad to push them up the table in the second half of the season.
West Brom controversially sold both Torbjorn Heggem to Bologna and homegrown winger Tom Fellows to Championship rivals Southampton in the summer in a bid to balance the books, and there has been some small success stories when it comes to their incomings, with Aune Heggebø's arrival from Brann the biggest hit.
Mason's usage of the loan market though hasn't really gone to plan. He landed both Man United midfielder Toby Collyer and Aston Villa winger Samuel Iling Jr in the final few weeks of the window, but both have failed to really fire at The Hawthorns.
Iling has scored just once from his 16 Championship appearances, which have mainly come from the right flank, whilst 21-year-old Collyer has notched up 12 outings - although he has been sidelined since late November with a calf injury.

And according to the BBC's Steve Harmon, both Iling and Collyer 'could' be recalled by their parent clubs in the Premier League, likely due to their lack of impact and recent game-time, and it is claimed that should that happen, Albion will look to replace the duo in the same kind of way in the form of temporary deals, with sporting director Andrew Nestor seeking an additional loanee on top of that to bolster squad depth.
Many would have expected West Brom to be at least in the top half of the Championship going into the Christmas period, but their current standing is a true reflection of their inconsistency under a novice head coach in Mason.
He has not been helped though by the lack of impact from players such as Toby Collyer and Samuel Iling, whose absence and decreasing showings of quality respectively mean they won't be too missed should their parent clubs decide to bring them back and loan them out elsewhere.
The mid-season transfer window is normally a busy one for players going out and getting experience for the final few months of the season, as well as players being relocated to more suitable clubs, and that's exactly what could happen here at West Brom.

They are an attractive club still for youngsters to join though, if they are the right fit, and just because Collyer and Iling's moves haven't really worked out, there has to be confidence that should they depart, the aforementioned Nestor will bring in replacements of suitable quality.
