Manchester United players are reportedly convinced that Michael Carrick is the ideal candidate to lead the club on a permanent basis, according to winger Amad Diallo.
Carrick, who took the reins in January following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim, has overseen a significant upturn in the team’s fortunes, propelling them to third in the Premier League and positioning them strongly for a return to the Champions League next season.
The club had initially planned to take their time in appointing a long-term manager after Amorim’s departure, but Carrick’s impressive performance has firmly placed him in contention for the role.
Under his stewardship, United have secured seven victories from his 10 games in charge, transforming their season.
Speaking from the club’s training camp near Dublin, Amad offered a ringing endorsement of the former United captain.

"Obviously it’s not for us as a player to decide his future, but he’s been very great, he’s been doing so much for the team," Amad stated. "He has a lot of experience, he knows the club and has the DNA. We think he’s the right man, but we are really happy for what he’s doing right now."
Amad further elaborated on Carrick’s impact: "Since he’s arrived he’s been clear to everyone that he wants to win, he wants to reach the Champions League next season, working with each player. He’s been doing really well and we’re really happy to have him as the manager.
“Sometimes this kind of manager can bring a club where they belong. From my personal side he’s the right man but it’s not the players who decide, but we are really happy to have him as a manager."
Bryan Mbeumo, sitting alongside Amad at the press conference, echoed the sentiment, highlighting the positive experience of working under Carrick.
"We’ve got good experience with him, playing under him as well," Mbeumo said. "As (Amad) said, it’s not for us to decide, but we’re going to try to take as much as we can from him. He knows the DNA of the club, he knows how to talk to us as well, I think it’s been easier because he knows the place. It’s been great to work under him."

Mbeumo, who joined United from Brentford last summer, made the move despite the club’s failure to qualify for European competition under Amorim.
When asked if securing Champions League football this term would validate his decision, Mbeumo responded: "Joining United was a big thing for me. I’m someone who likes challenges and coming here was one of the challenges I fixed myself.
“Getting the reward at the end of the season would be a great moment. It’s clear for everyone with the position we are now, we want to finish as strong as possible and reach the top of the positions in the table. Hopefully (we can) play in the Champions League."
