Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly eyeing another highly-rated Manchester United youngster in addition to Harry Amass.
Although Amass enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2024/25, United have decided to send him out on loan for the upcoming campaign.
After a long wait, Amass finally made his senior United debut in March, coming off the bench in a 3-0 win over Leicester City. He went on to make seven appearances in total across the Premier League and Europa League.
While he showed flashes of his brilliance and potential, it was evidently clear that Amass still has a long way to go before he can fully be trusted as a first-team player. At times, he appeared to struggle with the physicality of the opposition.
The 18-year-old was left out of United’s travelling squad that made its way to the United States for pre-season. Ruben Amorim made this decision to help Amass secure a loan exit.
A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Sheffield Wednesday are keen on temporarily signing the England youth international.
However, there were questions about whether this was the right move for Amass, considering Wednesday’s troubles. The Championship outfit was placed under a transfer embargo due to money owed to both players and other clubs by way of transfer fees.
With their transfer embargo now lifted, Wednesday are no longer restricted by terms like a squad limit. This could prompt them to fast-track their move for Amass, though they also have their eyes on another United prospect – Toby Collyer.
Like Amass, Collyer spent most of last season in and around the first team. However, injuries prevented the midfielder from playing more.
Collyer recently came out and admitted that he would be open to heading out on loan and it looks like he will get his wish.
The Sheffield Star reveal, “Sheffield Wednesday are believed to be considering a move for Manchester United duo, Harry Amass and Toby Collyer.”
“[Wednesday are] believed to be interested in trying to get a loan deal done for 21-year-old Collyer, a defensive midfielder who may find first team football hard to come by in 2025/26 under Ruben Amorim.”
Wednesday finished in 12th place last season, having picked up 58 points.
