Manchester United club sources are pushing back against reports that the Éderson deal has collapsed, insisting the transfer remains live despite the process hitting significant difficulties.
According to UtdDistrict, citing Plettigoal, United are actively fighting to get the deal over the line, with insiders denying that the move is finished. The sourcing is clear: this is not dead, but it is not straightforward either.

The 26-year-old Brazilian midfielder has been a central figure in United’s summer recruitment plan, with the club and Atalanta understood to have reached a broad agreement on a fee structure – reported at around £35 million plus £4 million in add-ons – earlier in the summer. Éderson himself confirmed the move in June, with the €45 million package already in place and personal terms settled.

The expectation had been that July would deliver the formalities – medicals, registration, the paperwork that turns an agreement into a signing. The medical process and its timing have since emerged as a source of complication, which appears to be at the root of the alarm that prompted United sources to push back publicly on Friday evening.
The language from the club side is notable – the word “fighting” is not the vocabulary of a transfer that is casually drifting toward completion. There is an obstacle here. What sources are categorically rejecting is the suggestion that the pursuit has been abandoned.
Éderson’s arrival would represent a meaningful upgrade in the engine room of a squad that spent last season exposing the limits of its midfield depth and quality. His profile – capable of operating as a box-to-box midfielder with defensive discipline – maps onto the kind of player Ruben Amorim needs to make his system function at the highest level.
The next meaningful development will hinge on whether the outstanding issues – logistical, contractual, or otherwise – can be resolved quickly enough to avoid the pursuit dragging further into July.
