Manchester United: Carragher takes aim at Ruben Amorim
Man United: for Jamie Carragher, Amorim must go
Indeed, under pressure after a sluggish start to the season, Ruben Amorim continues to defend his footballing project at Manchester United. The Portuguese manager insists that his philosophy is not the problem, despite mounting criticism surrounding him. Yet, some observers believe the issues run deeper. Jamie Carragher, former Liverpool defender turned pundit, made his stance clear: in his view, Amorim's stubbornness could doom the club.
"I've never been one to ask him to change his philosophy. It's his brainchild. Asking Amorim to abandon his style is like telling Klopp not to press or Guardiola to stop playing short passes," he stated.
But behind this logic, the Englishman points to the responsibility of the Manchester United management: Omar Berrada, Jason Wilcox, and Jim Ratcliffe, who approved his appointment, were fully aware of his approach.
Carragher even believes that with another manager, the current squad could aim for European qualification by building around a back four.
"No one likes to see a manager get sacked, but at this stage, it would be best for everyone," he concluded.
A harsh assessment that reignites the debate over Amorim's future at Old Trafford.
