Manchester United have no plans to part ways with Benjamin Sesko this summer, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Barcelona are reportedly exploring several attacking options as they prepare for life after veteran striker Robert Lewandowski.
The Polish striker is expected to leave the Catalan club after four years, leaving Barcelona searching for a long-term replacement. Sesko is reportedly under consideration.
Barcelona have been strongly linked with a move for Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez, but negotiations between both clubs have been anything but straightforward.
The Spanish giants are now assessing alternative targets, with Sesko and Borussia Dortmund forward Serhou Guirassy touted as possible candidates.
There has also been speculation that Atletico could enter the race for Sesko if they lose Alvarez. But United are unfazed by those suggestions.
United invested heavily in Sesko when they signed him from RB Leipzig for £73 million last summer, and the club believes that investment is already beginning to pay off.
Sesko needed time to settle into English football, but he finished the season strongly and became one of United’s most effective attacking players.
He scored 12 goals in 32 games across all competitions, with 11 of those coming in the Premier League.
United’s coaching staff were particularly encouraged by his development behind the scenes.
Sesko worked closely with manager Michael Carrick and first-team coach Travis Binnion, often taking on additional individual training sessions to refine different aspects of his game.
Those efforts were reflected in his performances, with seven of his 12 goals coming after Carrick took charge as interim manager in January.
