Manchester United and Lecce are reportedly still some distance apart in their respective valuations of Patrick Dorgu.
The left-sided wing-back is one of the positions United are eager to strengthen and at the moment, Dorgu appears to be the club’s primary target.
Other options under consideration include Nune Mendes (Paris Saint-Germain), Milos Kerkez (Bournemouth) and Antonee Robinson (Fulham) but none of these players are expected to come cheap.
Earlier today, David Ornstein of The Athletic revealed that United are in talks with Lecce over a switch to Old Trafford for Dorgu.
Ornstein relayed that discussions between the two clubs have begun although nothing is advanced yet.
This information has now been reiterated by Fabrizio Romano, who goes on to note Dorgu’s price tag. Romano wrote on X, “Manchester United are set to open formal talks with Lecce for Patrick Dorgu, no bid has been sent so far.”
“As exclusively revealed two weeks ago, he’s high on list as Kerkez and Nuno Mendes are still too expensive.”
“Dorgu, 100% keen on move… Lecce want around €40m.”
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, United are willing to fork out €10m less than what Lecce want to sanction the 20-year-old’s sale.
“Patrick Dorgu on Manchester United’s radar, as previously reported. Manchester United now actively exploring a move, as David Ornstein called.”
“Lecce have asked for €40m+ in the past but United hoping a deal possible for €25m-30m. No bid yet.”
The Daily Mail further state about the Dorgu transfer situation, “United have yet to make a formal offer but Lecce anticipate negotiations will head that way over the coming hours.”
“Amorim is keen to strengthen his options before letting players out with United facing Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday and still in the FA Cup.”
Dorgu’s current contract with Lecce runs out in 2029.
