Manchester United legend David Beckham has found himself embroiled in a family dispute with his eldest son in recent times, with reports of strained relations rocking the famous family to its core.
Brooklyn Beckham is now estranged from his parents and siblings, with the relationship now looking further away than ever from being resolved.
The 26-year-old has released a statement on his X account to explain his side of the story, and it does not make for good reading for the former Red Devil.
Brooklyn aims a raft of accusations at his parents, citing consistent disrespect towards him and his wife, Nicola Peltz, and use of the media to manipulate the situation in their favour.
Much of the statement references behaviours centred around his wedding that Victoria attempted to disrupt in multiple ways, including pulling out of delivering Nicola’s wedding dress at the eleventh hour.
Brooklyn says he was called “evil” by his mother on the back of table arrangements at his wedding, which took place in Florida in 2022. Furthermore, Victoria has been accused of “hijacking his first dance” with Nicola, which “was planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song”.
However, Victoria made sure she was the first to dance with Brooklyn on the day, but did so “very inappropriately in front of his 500 guests”.
Alongside attempting to control the media narrative, he makes claims of private “attacks” and says even his brothers have been “sent to attack him” on social media before unfollowing him on platforms.
Brooklyn also says his parents “tried to bribe him into signing away rights to his name before his wedding day, which would have affected him, his wife and future children.”
Attempts at reconciliation have been dismissed, with David “only allowing the couple to attend his birthday bash in front of the press” to keep up appearances after he knocked back the invitation of a private meet-up.
Brooklyn says his dad “only agreed to a meet-up if Nicola wasn’t there” and further accuses Victoria of attempting to sabotage his relationship by “repeatedly inviting women from his past back into his life”.
Brooklyn’s statement will certainly send shockwaves through the Beckham family, given the list of claims which he says have left him “humiliated and embarrassed”.
Whether David or Victoria publicly respond remains to be seen, but this certainly is not a good look for the Beckham brand and for the family as a whole, who are seen to be the envy of the world by many.
