Vinicius Jr.’s outstanding FIFA World Cup campaign continues to earn praise from across the football world, with Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand becoming the latest high-profile figure to highlight the Real Madrid forward’s importance to Brazil.

The 25-year-old produced another decisive display by scoring twice in Brazil’s comfortable 3-0 victory over Scotland, helping Carlo Ancelotti’s side secure qualification for the Round of 32.

Notably, his brace showed the dramatic improvement he has enjoyed with the national team since reuniting with his former Real Madrid manager.

Vinicius in remarkable World Cup form

As such, Brazil never looked in danger against Scotland, and Vinicius once again played a leading role in the victory.

The Real Madrid winger struck twice before the break after capitalising on defensive mistakes, putting Brazil in control before Matheus Cunha sealed the result with the third goal in the second half.

The performance also placed Vinicius in distinguished company, making him only the fifth Brazilian player to score in all three group-stage matches at a FIFA World Cup.

Notably, his resurgence with Brazil has coincided with Ancelotti’s arrival as national team coach.

Before the Italian took charge, Vinicius had managed just six goals in 39 international appearances.

Since Ancelotti’s appointment 13 months ago, however, the Real Madrid star has already scored seven goals in just 13 matches, with four of those coming during the current World Cup.

Ferdinand explains why Brazil depend on Vinicius

Following another influential performance, Rio Ferdinand singled out Vinicius on his YouTube channel as the player capable of deciding Brazil’s World Cup fate.

The former Manchester United defender believes the winger has rediscovered the level that made him one of the most feared attackers in world football at Real Madrid.

“Vini Jr’s performances are looking like what he was in a Real Madrid shirt a year or two ago. That’s dangerous for everybody else.

“If Brazil want to win the World Cup, Vini Jr is going to be massively important. If Vini doesn’t perform, Brazil don’t win,” he declared.
