Joshua Zirkzee is Roma’s top target. Gian Piero Gasperini has strongly requested him from Frederic Massara and the Friedkins to bolster his attack in January.

The former Bologna player is on the sidelines at Manchester United and wants to leave the Premier League. He would gladly return to Italy, where he performed so well with Bologna, and the capital is a destination he’s drawn to.

Yesterday, too, in the Red Devils’ draw against Bournemouth, he was on the bench for virtually the entire match. Manager Ruben Amorim only brought him on in the 90th minute, confirming a near-complete rift between the player and the club.

He will most likely leave England in the winter transfer window, aiming to earn a World Cup spot in the final months of the season.

Roma are interested in him, but bringing him to Trigoria won’t be easy.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport reports, Manchester United would like to include a buyout obligation of around €35 million to secure the loan.

Furthermore, they would only let him leave at the end of January, given the many attacking players involved in the Africa Cup of Nations. In short, it won’t be a simple deal, neither for Roma nor for AC Milan, another Serie A club interested in the 2000-born player.

Massara is aware of the situation and has therefore included other names on the list of players to propose to Gasperini. Genoa’s Jeff Ekhator and Everton’s Beto are also interested in attack. Another option is Albert Gudmundsson, who, however, is an attacking midfielder.
