The hosts made several attempts to level, but Andre Onana and Manuel Ugarte stood tall to keep United’s lead intact.

They could not hold the lead for long as Fenerbahce scored the equaliser right after the break.

Jose Mourinho was sent off to the stands for his desperate protest for a penalty.

United are 21st in the Europa League table after picking up three points in three games.

Let’s get into the player ratings.

Player Ratings

Andre Onana – 8/10

Sensational goalkeeping to make a double save, first to his right and then to his left.

Diogo Dalot – 6/10

The Portugal international was solid in his defence but should have supported the attack more.

Matthijs de Ligt – 7/10

De Ligt had a fine evening at the heart of the defence. He had 91 percent success with his ball distribution and made three clearances.

Victor Lindelof – 1/10

His first start of the season. The defender was extremely weak in his duel for Youssef En-Nesyri’s goal. He could have easily cleared the ball but didn’t even try to engage in the aerial duel.

Ten Hag was spot on to substitute right after that blunder.

Lisandro Martinez – 7/10

Another good performance at left-back in the first 60 minutes. Having him in that position helped United play out from the back.

Manuel Ugarte – 8/10

Ugarte won the ball to kick off United’s move for their goal. He made an incredible block to stop a certain Fenerbahce goal at 1-0.

Christian Eriksen – 7/10

A fantastic first-time shot from the Dane put United ahead. His influence faded when he moved to the number ten position later in the game.

Noussair Mazraoui – 6/10

It was a major surprise to see Mazraoui start in the number 10 position.

He played a crucial role in the opening goal. He delivered a good shot to test the goalkeeper after his switch to left-back in the second half.

Alejandro Garnacho – 7/10

Garnacho carried the ball with great attacking purpose for the first goal. He was visibly upset with Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund for not playing him through several times.

Marcus Rashford – 6/10

Rashford’s first meaningful action was to get a booking for a tactical foul.

He made a lovely run on the right flank and was inches away from doubling United’s lead.

Joshua Zirkzee – 3/10

The Dutch international returned to the team and contributed by perfectly setting up Eriksen’s goal. Apart from that assist, his ball distribution was very poor.

His substitution before the hour mark was the correct call.

Substitutes

Rasmus Hojlund – 6/10

The 21-year-old was much better than Zirkzee. He made a driving run but could not find enough power in his shot to beat the goalkeeper.

He must start against West Ham United on Sunday.

Casemiro – 6/10

The Brazilian made no errors in his cameo.

Antony – N/A

Ten Hag showed faith in sending him on before Amad Diallo. Unfortunately, he was stretchered off due to an injury.

Amad Diallo – N/A

Too late to rate.
