Man United are prioritising four positions in the summer transfer window as Ruben Amorim goes about reshaping his playing squad.
The Red Devils are eager to strengthen the team following their worst ever Premier League campaign, finishing 15th in the table with 42 points.
United may have missed out on the riches that come with Champions League football after losing the Europa League final to Spurs last month, but they are still willing to spend big ahead of next season.
Matheus Cunha has already been captured after a £62.5 million transfer was agreed with Wolves this week. That is just the start.
After finding the net just 44 times in the league, Man United are looking to add more goals to the squad, which is why a new centre-forward is “on the agenda”, according to The Athletic.
They have already missed out on Liam Delap, who will be swapping Ipswich Town for Chelsea in a £30m move, so attentions have turned to Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo. The manager is an “admirer” of Viktor Gyokeres, whom he coached at Sporting Club, Antoine Semenyo of Bournemouth has been “looked at”, while Napoli’s Victor Osimhen has not been ruled out as a possibility despite his mammoth salary.
The report adds that Amorim is “believed to want an athletic No.8-type midfielder” and wants more depth in the wing-back area.
Wing-backs are an essential part of the Portuguese tactician’s 3-4-3 formation, while signing someone in the eight role would free Bruno Fernandes to play as one of the two No.10s behind the striker, alongside Cunha.
Lastly, a new goalkeeper could arrive if Andre Onana leaves Old Trafford. As The Football Faithful reported last month, the Cameroon international could be replaced by Aston Villa star Emi Martinez. However, it’s said that signing a shot stopper is “lower down the list” of priorities.
