Man Utd Step Up Pursuit of Sesko Amid Transfer Talks

Formal Offer on the Horizon

Manchester United are set to formalise their interest in RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, according to Sky Sports. United have held talks with the Bundesliga club over what fee would be acceptable and are expected to submit an official proposal soon.

Newcastle United are also in the mix, with Sky Sports previously reporting that the Magpies have made an official bid worth £69.8 million. However, United may be edging ahead in the race for the highly-rated Slovenian forward.

One source told Sky Sports News that “Sesko is open to both projects” but added that “he is leaning towards Manchester United if they can agree a deal”.

Forward Options Under Review

Should a deal go through, it could spell the end of Rasmus Hojlund’s time at Old Trafford. United are reportedly willing to entertain “suitable offers” for the Danish striker.

A reshaping of the forward line under Ruben Amorim appears to be in motion, with Sesko now firmly on United’s radar.

Our View – EPL Index Analysis

The idea of Benjamin Sesko donning the red shirt at Old Trafford is an exciting one if you’re a United fan. At 6ft 5in, with pace, technical ability and a keen eye for goal, he offers a different profile to what United currently have up front. He feels like a project worth investing in, especially with Leipzig’s track record of developing talent.

The suggestion from Sky Sports that “he is leaning towards Manchester United” if a deal can be struck is encouraging. It speaks to the renewed pull of the club, even during a transitional period.

While it’s surprising to hear the club are open to offers for Hojlund, it’s also a reminder of the ruthless nature of modern football. Amorim needs a striker who can hit the ground running and offer physical presence in Premier League battles. Sesko, having already played at a high level in Germany, may be better placed to deliver immediately.

If United secure this signing, it signals intent. The rebuild is far from over, but acquiring a talent like Sesko would be a step in the right direction.
