Manchester United and Real Madrid are both in the race to sign Atalanta star Ederson who has now emerged as one of the most wanted midfielders in Europe.

The 25-year-old has been growing from strength to strength since making the move from Salernitana to La Dea in the summer of 2022. He immediately cemented himself as a pillar in Gian Piero Gasperini’s tactical plans thanks to his never-say-die attitude and generous contribution all over the field.

Ederson played an integral role in Atalanta’s Europa League triumph last season, and is now one of the driving forces behind the club’s Scudetto push.

However, it remains to be seen for how long will the Bergamese be able to maintain the services of their influential midfielder, especially with a host of European giants attempting to lure him away from the club.

In recent weeks, Man United and Man City were both said to be following the player, but Real Madrid have now emerged as his newest suitor, explains Calciomercato. Los Merengues feel they have yet to replace Casemiro who was the club’s ultimate midfield enforcer during his time in the Spanish capital, before sealing a transfer to Old Trafford in the summer of 2022.

And while the Red Devils currently have the decorated Brazilian among their ranks, the 32-year-old has now become a shadow of his former self, and is now tipped to make a move to the Saudi Pro League to see out the remaining years of his playing career.

Therefore, Fabrizio Romano (via GiveMeSport) insists that the Premier League giants continue to keep a close eye on Ederson who would be the ideal profile to replace his Brazilian compatriot.

The Italian journalist also reveals that Man City have sent their scouts to monitor the Atalanta star, so a bidding war appears to be on the horizon.
