Man United to to reap financial rewards ahead of World Cup | OneFootball

Manchester United are reportedly set to rake in hundreds of thousands of pounds due to a number of their players taking part in this summer’s World Cup.

Heavily represented

Excitement is building in the world of football ahead of the start of the World Cup later this week.

United will be heavily represented at the competition, with up to 13 of the club’s players set to be available for their respective countries.

The Red Devils enjoyed a superb 2025/26 season, finishing third in the Premier League and securing Champions League football after a two-year absence.

The United players who will be participating in the World Cup in North America are Casemiro (Brazil), Matheus Cunha (Brazil), Manuel Ugarte (Uruguay), Lisandro Martinez (Argentina), Diogo Dalot (Portugal), Bruno Fernandes (Portugal), Tyler Fletcher (Scotland), Amad (Ivory Coast), Noussair Mazraoui (Morocco), Altay Bayindir (Turkey) and Senne Lammens (Belgium).

The final two are English duo Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo.

Metro have confirmed that United will be paid thousands of pounds by FIFA each day during the World Cup for releasing their players to play in the competition.

Financial windfall

The news outlet reports that United are set to benefit from a FIFA pot of £265m, which is in place to compensate clubs that have supplied players to the World Cup.

It’s said that of the total fund, £187m has been set aside for the tournament itself. £75m has been dedicated to for players who competed in the qualifiers stage.

The remaining funds will go toward aiding the well-being of club football across the globe.

Under FIFA’s club benefit programme, clubs will be paid per day for each of their players involved. It’s understood that payment is guaranteed, whether or not the players get on the pitch.

Payment begins on the date they are released for international duty and runs until their final match in the competition. Metro say that each club will receive £3,730 daily for each player.

Due to this, stars who are eliminated in the group stage will earn their clubs £119,500. Those who make it to the final at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, will make their clubs around £212,900.

This is a welcome boost for United as they prepare to go big in the summer window, as they prepare to play in the Champions League next season and potentially mount a title challenge.
