Manchester United’s under-18 team are having a special season.
The Red Devils’ under-18s find themselves second in the league, two points behind Manchester City.
They crushed Nottingham Forest 5-2 at the weekend to keep up their title charge.
The young side also find themselves in the quarter-final of the Youth Cup, where they will face Sunderland on Wednesday 18th March.
The Red Devils also booked their place in the final of the Premier League Cup by eventually overcoming West Ham United 3-1 after extra time.
Goals from the exciting JJ Gabriel, Junior Brown, and Kai Rooney finally settled the score.
The club’s official website has confirmed that Darren Fletcher’s side will now face Crystal Palace in the final of the cup.
Crystal Palace defeated Tottenham Hotspur to reach the final and will be rewarded by playing the match at home.
The site reports that, “the game is to be staged at Selhurst Park on Wednesday 22 April, kicking off at 19:00 BST.”
There is no concept of a replay, and the match will be settled on the night through extra time or, if necessary, penalties.
United last won the competition back in the 2023/2024 season, and they were also victorious in the FA Youth Cup in 2022 when they beat Forest 3-1 at Old Trafford.
This under-18 side is full of quality players who have many around Carrington excited about the future of the club.
JJ Gabriel is certainly the star attraction, but the likes of midfield maestro Jim Thwaites and the excellent ball-playing goalkeeper Cameron Byrne-Hughes are just some of the many talents scattered across this side.
