Man Utd seeking to avoid a third straight home game without a win

Manchester United will tonight continue a recent Premier League trend when they face Bournemouth.

Three of the last four matchweeks from England’s top-flight has featured the Red Devils in the very final game and this particular slot has brought about mixed results for Ruben Amorim.

Playing last does have its advantages and disadvantages as Man United will be responding to what their rivals for Champions League rivals do, though there could be a chance to end the matchweek in the top four if results elsewhere go their way.

Bournemouth have struggled of late. Without a win in six - losing four - which has seen Andoni Iraola’s side slide down the table after such an impressive start to the season.

The Cherries did hold Chelsea to a goalless draw last weekend to avoid a third straight loss and have a platform to build on for what is their penultimate fixture before Christmas.

Here’s everything you need to know about the game…

Date, kick-off time and venue

Manchester United vs Bournemouth is scheduled for an 8pm GMT kick-off tonight, Monday, December 15, 2025.

The match will take place at Old Trafford, in Manchester.

Manchester United vs Bournemouth team news

Harry Maguire and Mathijs de Ligt have both been ruled out of Monday’s match, but Benjamin Sesko is pushing to return.

The big Slovenian has not featured since he sustained a knee injury in November, but is nearing a return despite having his recovery slowed this week by a bout of food poisoning.

With Maguire and De Ligt ruled out again, youngster Ayden Heaven is expected to continue in the back three alongside Luke Shaw and, possibly, Noussair Mazraoui.

The Moroccan, along with Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo, are scheduled to depart for the Africa Cup of Nations on the same day as this fixture, but Amorim is hopeful all three will be granted permission to face the Cherries.

He is not yet sure whether they will be available: “We are still in conversation with the national teams. The game is Monday, they are here and they are training and we are trying to prepare all the different scenarios.

“It is frustrating [not knowing who is available]. But nobody knows who is going to play, so it is a good thing.”

As for the visitors, Tyler Adams is available after serving a ban but Lewis Cook serves the final game of his suspension for his red card against Sunderland.

Ben Gannon-Doak, Ryan Christie and Matai Akinmboni are set to miss out through injury, while Veljko Milosavljevic and Marcos Senesi are doubtful.

Manchester United vs Bournemouth prediction

How much can we read into Man Utd’s 4-1 win over Wolves? After all, they were up against the worst team in the division who, quite frankly, did not put up much of a fight.

Granted Bournemouth are not in sparkling form at the moment, but we still expect them to give the Red Devils a much sterner test.

What Man United side turns up is anyone guess as they’ve stumbled at home recently and that should give the Cherries confidence of claiming another positive result at the ‘Theatre of Dreams’.

Draw, 1-1.
