Manchester United make the trip to face Arsenal this weekend in a huge test of Ruben Amorim’s early tenure.
A first Premier League win under the new manager was celebrated at the weekend, as the Red Devils thrashed Everton 4-0 at Old Trafford.
Next up is an Arsenal side with ambitions of winning the title and the Gunners have returned from the international break in sparkling form. The North London side have scored 13 goals in wins over Nottingham Forest, Sporting Lisbon and West Ham, after a 5-2 win over the latter at the weekend.
Amorim’s newly-implemented formation will be tested at the Emirates, as United look to extend their seven-game unbeaten run since Erik ten Hag’s dismissal.
Luke Shaw took to social media this week to express his disappointment at another injury setback. Having recently returned, Shaw is set for another spell out as the left-back continues to be plagued with issues.
Amorim will also be without Lisandro Martinez and Kobbie Mainoo, who are suspended after picking up their fifth bookings of the campaign against Everton. Harry Maguire is likely to replace Martinez in the back three, while Leny Yoro could also make the matchday squad. The Frenchman is yet to make his Manchester United debut after sustaining a foot injury in pre-season.
Joshua Zirkzee will hope to retain his place at centre-forward ahead of Rasmus Hojlund. The Dutchman scored twice against Everton, his first goals since August.
Man United predicted XI: Onana; Mazraoui, De Ligt, Maguire; Amad, Ugarte, Casemiro, Dalot; Fernandes, Rashford, Zirkzee.
Arsenal host Manchester United in the Premier League on Wednesday December 4th 2024. Kick-off at the Emirates is 20:15 GMT.
