Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo and Leny Yoro have both been named in the Golden Boy top 20.
The award is a prize “given to the best player under 21 years old that plays in any of the European top tier leagues.”
The Red Devils have a plethora of problems on and off the pitch at the moment.
Nonetheless, one aspect they are shining in is youth development, with the squad and academy full of young talent at the moment.
Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo were both named in the top 10 of the prestigious Golden Boy award last year after their fine seasons in 2024.
This year new signing Yoro and Mainoo once again, have been included in the top 100 of the list of exciting young players.
Leny Yoro is currently in 12th position according to the Tuttosport list.
The young French defender has had injury issues but he has still put in a highly impressive season for the Red Devils after joining from LOSC Lille last summer.
He played 33 games in all competitions, scoring one goal in the Europa League against Olympique Lyonnais.
Yoro has impressed fans with his cool head under pressure, ball carrying and electric pace at the back. United fans will hope he will be a pillar of the defence for years to come.
Carrington graduate Mainoo also features on the list in 19th position.
He has not had anything like the impact he had last year owing to injury issues and not finding a concrete position in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 system.
Nonetheless, the 20 year old still managed 37 games this season and his finest moment came with his outstanding equaliser in the crazy 5-4 quarter-final win over Lyon.
There was to be no place on the list for Garnacho this year, despite the fact the Argentine had his highest goal tally in senior football.
He played 58 times in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists. Nonetheless, it was still not good enough to make an appearance on the list.
