An update on the stance of Premier League giants Manchester United when it comes to the future of on-loan attacker Mason Greenwood has on Tuesday been provided.

Englishman Greenwood, for his part, of course secured a departure from Manchester last summer, taking his talents to La Liga to link up with José Bordalás’ Getafe.

And the 22-year-old has since gone on to enjoy a fine campaign in Spain, on his way to 10 goals and six assists across 31 appearances to date.

His latest haul in front of goal came this past weekend, when Greenwood notched a brace, as well as an assist, in a Man of the Match display against Almería.

Such impressive exploits have culminated in links with some of La Liga’s biggest clubs with a view to next season, both Barcelona and Atlético Madrid understood to be keeping a close eye on the gifted frontman’s situation.

And, if the latest word stemming from the media on Tuesday is anything to go by, should any such club cough up the necessary funds, then striking a deal for Greenwood looks a strong possibility.

As per transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United’s position on the future of their on-loan youngster has not changed. The plan is to cash in on Greenwood, before reinvesting the funds raised elsewhere.
