Man Utd chief outlines optimism after publication of club’s financial results | OneFootball

Manchester United CEO Omar Berrada says the club’s record revenues for 2026 demonstrate the “underlying strength” of the business despite recording an increased pre-tax loss.

United reported revenue of £677.6m for the fiscal year, up from the previous record of £666.5m in 2025, despite not competing in European competition last season.

The club did, however, record a pre-tax loss of £43m, up from £33m the previous year.

“This shows the direct impact of the work we have been doing over the past two years,” Berrada said.

“It also proves Manchester United’s enduring popularity and commercial strength.

“While these results confirm that we are on the right trajectory, we will continue to take a disciplined approach to ensure our finances remain sustainable.”

United also recorded an operating profit of £22.6m, compared with an £18.4m loss last year, which the club attributed to cost and headcount reductions as well as improved Premier League performance.

However, figures show the club’s overall debt remains over £1bn.

Berrada also pointed to United’s summer investment in both the men’s and women’s teams and the return of Champions League football to Old Trafford.

“With that financial sustainability in mind, we have strengthened both our men’s and women’s teams during the summer window and our men’s team has seen the return of Champions League football to Old Trafford,” he said.

United have also confirmed they have secured the land required for their proposed new 100,000-capacity stadium.

“Our other main area of focus is our plan to develop a new 100,000-seater stadium,” Berrada added.

“We have now completed the major milestone of securing the land which will form part of the proposed location of the new stadium.”

The club also benefited financially from Ruben Amorim’s move to AC Milan, with the compensation due to the former United boss and his coaching staff reportedly cut by more than £8m after his appointment at San Siro.
