Michael Carrick will be without three Reds for this afternoon’s pre-season clash with Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg.

The Red Devils lock horns with the reigning European champions in a rare meeting, which is pencilled in for a 4pm kick-off (BST).

Yet, Carrick will have to make do without two of his most trusted lieutenants in the form of Senne Lammens and Matheus Cunha, both of whom are ill.

They will, however, link up with the squad in Ireland, where the side faces Leeds United at Croke Park on August 12.

The two stars, who signed in the 2025 summer window, only reported back to Carrington in recent weeks due to their World Cup involvement, but will be back playing starting roles as soon as the Premier League campaign gets underway.

Karl Darlow misses out due to injury setback

Elsewhere, new arrival Karl Darlow is recovering from a ‘minor procedure’, according to Manchester Evening News.

United are waiting on the veteran to return to full fitness after sanctioning the exits of Altay Bayindir to Celta Vigo on loan and Radek Vitek to Middlesbrough in a permanent deal worth up to £14 million.

Darlow, 35, arrives at United after spending three years with arch-rivals Leeds, and boasts ample experience in England thanks to his spells with the Yorkshire outfit, Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United.

He will presumably provide respite for Lammens during cup matches, while the Belgian will continue being No.1 in the league and, once the competition gets underway, in the Champions League.

Andre Onana is also unavailable, having rejoined Trabzonspor for another season-long loan spell in July.

United travel to face newly promoted Hull City for matchday one on Saturday, August 22 in the 12.30pm kick-off.
