Man Utd earn first win of the WSL season against West Ham | OneFootball

Goals from Elisabeth Terland and Andrea Medina helped give Manchester United their first league win of the 2026/27 WSL season.

It had been a tough start to life for Eva Olid after replacing Marc Skinner this summer but things are now looking more promising. After a 10-1 thrashing of Sheffield United midweek, the Red Devils finally got their first three points of the league campaign in a performance that was, for 90 minutes at least, fairly comfortable.

The home side took the lead with just under 10 minutes gone in the game after Anna Sandberg's corner delivery from the left found Terland able to head the ball in from close range.

It was a fairly even contest in the opening 45 minutes with Kelly Gago and Viviane Asseyi looking lively for the Hammers while Helen Lundkvist had a golden opportunity save just before the break.

The second half was a much more dominant display from Manchester United who had chances before Andrea Medina eventually made it 2-0 in the 72nd minute with her first goal for the club.

Referee Callum Jones indicated five minutes of stoppage time which became nervy for Olid's side after Asseyi won a penalty when she went down under the challenge of Sandberg.

The French international sent Phallon Tullis-Joyce the wrong way to score her third of the campaign and produce a very nervy final few minutes for the home team who eventually hung on to a 2-1 win.

Besides those last few minutes, Olid will be pleased about how her team performed overall, particularly against a well-drilled team like Rita Guarino's West Ham.
