Manchester United are reportedly keen to part ways with Manuel Ugarte at the end of the season, as three suitors look to pounce on his situation.

The Red Devils have been enjoying their best run in years, with Michael Carrick immediately restoring the good vibes at Old Trafford.

Since the 44-year-old’s appointment as interim head coach, the club dominated their neighbours Manchester City in the local Derby, and earned dramatic 3-2 wins over Arsenal and Fulham.

But while Carrick’s arrival reignited Kobbie Mainoo’s form and is also helping others produce improved displays, the managerial change has yet to make a positive impact on Ugarte’s career.

Why Man Utd want Manuel Ugarte gone

The Uruguayan has arguably been the worst signing made in the INEOS era, as he has yet to justify the £42 million that Man Utd shelled out to recruit his services in the summer of 2024.

Even a reunion with Ruben Amorim couldn’t do the trick. At the end of the previous campaign The Portuguese coach brutally told Ugarte that he was no longer the same player who was at his disposal at Sporting CP.

According to The i Paper, Man Utd have now decided to offload the 24-year-old at the end of the season.

As the source notes, ‘chaos’ often ensues when Ugarte takes the pitch, in a reference to the goals that United tend to concede when the former PSG man is introduced.

Ironically, the Uruguayan international is a holding midfielder, so he’s supposedly brought on to help the team protect the lead, only that his entry tends to backfire, as was the case against Fulham on Sunday, when the Reds squandered a healthy two-goal advantage.

Ugarte destined for Turkish experience

Ugarte has been tracked by Galatasaray for several weeks, but United refused to offload him due to the lack of depth in the middle of the park.

The source expects the Istanbul-based giants to resume the chase next summer, alongside two other Turkish clubs, who are equally interested in the Montevideo native.

The underwhelming player’s departure will open the door for a full-blown midfield revamp, as Casemiro had already announced his departure at the end of the season, while Bruno Fernandes’ future remains to be decided.

The main candidates to join United in the summer are Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, Brighton’s Carlos Beleba, and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton.
