Manchester United are reportedly involved in the race for Dusan Vlahovic, who could soon become one of the hottest names on the free agent market.
The Serbian first rose to stardom during his time at Fiorentina. His exploits in Tuscany prompted Juventus to shell out €80 million to secure his signature and offer him lucrative wages.
Thanks to a loyalty bonus inserted in his deal, the 25-year-old is currently the highest earner in Serie A, as he’s set to receive €12 million for his services this season.
However, Vlahovic’s future has been in the air for quite some time, as the two parties haven’t been able to find an agreement over a renewal, which means that the player can depart as a free agent by the end of the season.
The Belgrade native was once hailed by his Juventus teammate and compatriot, Filip Kostic, as the ‘best striker in the league’, but in recent years, his performances have left much to be desired.
Nevertheless, Vlahovic has been showcasing promising signs since Luciano Spalletti’s appointment as Juventus manager, thus urging the Italian giants to resume contract talks with his agent, Darko Ristic.
But according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Bianconeri could be impeded by their financial struggles, especially with potential FFP sanctions looming on the horizon.

Therefore, the pink newspaper believes that Juventus will likely struggle to find a breakthrough in their talks with the Serbian international, especially with several suitors lurking. The report names four clubs that are expected to enter the fray, including Man United.
In addition to the Red Devils, the former Fiorentina bomber has reportedly attracted interest from Chelsea, Tottenham and Bayern Munich. Il Corriere dello Sport, another reputable Italian newspaper, is also reporting the same story.
Signing Vlahovic could indeed make sense for United, as Ruben Amorim suggested that he sees Joshua Zirkzee more of a No.10, which means that Benjamin Sesko is the only first-team centre-forward at the manager’s disposal.
The Juventus star would certainly command a sizable salary and commission fees, but at least United wouldn’t have to pay a transfer fee.
Nevertheless, before making any decision on the matter, Man Utd must first be certain that Vlahovic has truly turned the corner, as they wouldn’t want to sign another striker who is struggling to find the back of the net.
