Manchester United are interested in signing Nottingham Forest midfielder Danilo Oliveira this summer and have made enquiries about what a deal will entail, according to Brazilian outlet TNT Sports.

The Red Devils want to bolster their options in the middle of the park and have made attempts to convince Paris Saint-Germain to part with Manuel Ugarte.

However, landing the Uruguayan international has proven impossible and Man United have moved on to other targets.

They are in talks with Burnley over a deal for midfielder Sander Berge, but nothing has progressed and it appears they are shifting attention to Danilo.

Forest do not want to lose the Brazilian this summer having only signed him from Palmeiras in January 2023, but they could be willing to do business for €40 million – twice the fee they paid for him.

The 23-year-old – described by former Forest sporting director Filippo Giraldi as a ‘fantastic talent’ – has helped the Tricky Trees stay in the Premier League over the last two seasons.

He would be open to joining Man United, as it would help boost his chances of making the national team.

Danilo is an excellent dribbler who is very comfortable when in possession of the ball. Intercepting and blocking the ball are some of his biggest strengths.

He came into the limelight at the FIFA Club World Cup in 2021, walking away with the Bronze Ball award, having helped Palmeiras reach the final, where they lost narrowly to Chelsea.

Despite being a deep-lying midfielder, the Man United target also has an eye for goal, with five goals and four assists to his name in 42 Premier League appearances.

Danilo is an upgrade on Casemiro and the Red Devils would be making a smart move by signing him ahead of other targets in the position.
