Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly vying for the services of Sheffield Wednesday teenager Yisa Alao.
The Red Devils have been working on luring some of the finest young players in the country to Carrington. They have already poached the likes of Chido Obi and Ayden Heaven from Arsenal, as well as Charlie Hardy from Derby County.
According to The Star journalist Joe Crann, Alao could be the next English teenager to join the Red Devils.
As the source reveals, Man Utd and Liverpool are trying to exploit Wednesday’s disastrous financial situation to land the young left-back. The Championship Club entered administration in October due to their inability to pay the players’ wages on time.
Unpopular owner Dejphon Chansiri agreed to put the club on sale, but it remains to be seen if a swift takeover will see the light.

In the meantime, the Owls are desperate to keep their most prized assets at the club, including Alao. So while United and Liverpool have both made six-figure offers, Crann reports that both bids were rejected.
However, it remains unclear whether Wednesday would be able to resist more tempting offers, especially if a rapid solution isn’t reached at the ownership level.
Alao is considered one of the most promising wonderkids in Sheffield. While he primarily plays for the club’s U18 side, he has made three cameos for the senior team this season.
His captain, Barry Bannan, praised his performances in the Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby Town, the same side that famously eliminated Man United from the competition.
Curiously, Man Utd already own a teenager who plays at left-back for Wednesday, having sent Harry Amass on loan to Hillsborough Stadium last summer.
Even with the team enduring a catastrophic campaign on all levels, the United academy product has managed to impress. He was voted Wednesday’s MVP in November, an accolade he controversially flaunted on social media as a response to a comment made by Ruben Amorim, before swiftly deleting the post.
