Manchester United could receive an unexpected windfall due to Chelsea’s interest in signing Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira this summer.

Pereira left the Red Devils for Fulham on a permanent basis in 2022 and he has since been a key player in the number 10 role for manager Marco Silva.

However, he could be on the move this summer. Globo Esporte claim that Chelsea are interested in signing the 28-year-old from the Cottagers. This has been confirmed by his agent Kia Joorabchian.

The Blues are aiming to sell Conor Gallagher for £50 million in the near future. If they manage to do so, they are willing to spend around £30-35m to purchase Pereira from their west London rivals.

Pereira has the chance to play Champions League football with Monaco, but he is prepared to join Chelsea instead with the opportunity to progress in his career while staying in the English capital.

United would receive huge fee with Pereira’s move to Chelsea

The Red Devils sold Pereira to Fulham in a deal worth £10m two years ago. As part of the agreement, the club successfully negotiated a 20 percent sell-on clause for the versatile star.

The decision could prove worthwhile in the coming days, judging by the Blues’ interest. United could receive as much as £7m from Pereira’s transfer to Stamford Bridge.

This would be a huge financial boost, particularly with funds limited at the moment. The club have recently signed Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro with long-term payment plans.

They are likely to follow the same procedure for future acquisitions. £7m may not seem a lot, but the fee could be used to prise away Manuel Ugarte on an initial loan from Paris Saint-Germain.

Paris Saint-Germain are holding out for £59m for the Uruguayan star, but United seem optimistic of landing his services on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.
