PSG have shown in recent transfer windows that adding top French talent is a priority, with Bradley Barcola, Désiré Doué, and Lucas Chevalier among their signings.

The club may now look to reinforce the defense with another French standout. While Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté has been linked, another option could emerge.

Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano will become a free agent after the 2025-26 season, and PSG are reportedly keeping a close eye on him. Still, bringing in Upamecano could prove difficult with strong competition expected.

In his latest column, Bayern insider Christian Falk reported that if Upamecano and the German club don’t reach a contract extension by January, the defender will be free to open talks with other teams over a pre-contract.

“It is true that Liverpool are looking at Dayot Upamecano,” Falk wrote. “Bayern have been trying to give Upamecano a new contract for months. I think it’s coming up to a year of talks! And the time is running out, because next summer he’s a free agent, and it makes him so interesting for many, many clubs. Liverpool, of course, have the same situation with Ibrahima Konate – he’s also going to be a free agent next summer.

“And yes, if Liverpool can get a player like Dayot Upamecano for free, that’s pretty good business. That said, every top club in the world is looking at him; I heard that Real Madrid is very, very interested in him. Also, the player is understood to be on the list at Manchester United and PSG.”

Real Madrid are reportedly still in the market for a centre-back ahead of next season, with Diario AS noting that the club is tracking Ibrahima Konaté and Upamecano.

At the same time, Falk previously revealed that PSG are also keeping tabs on Upamecano. The French side view him as a possible target and may look to secure his signature if he becomes available on a free transfer next summer.
