Manchester United are reported to have reached a full agreement to make Sporting CP's Ruben Amorim their next manager.

Amorim was quickly identified as the top target to replace Erik ten Hag, who was sacked earlier this week, and United's intentions were made clear when Sporting confirmed the Red Devils' desire to trigger his release clause.

According to The Telegraph, United will pay €10m (£8.3m) to buy Amorim out of his contract with Sporting, while also offering extra compensation to hire some of the manager's backroom staff as well.

Amorim is expected to bring as many as five staff members with him to Old Trafford, including assistants Carlos Fernandes, Adelio Candido and Emanuel Ferro, goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital and fitness coach Paulo Barreira.

Reports have suggested Amorim will sign a contract until the end of the 2026/27 season, with the option of an extra year.

INEOS chief Sir Dave Brailsford appeared to confirm United's imminent move for Amorim on Wednesday, with a video emerging on social media in which Brailsford tells fans "it's done" when asked for an update.

Portuguese media outlets, however, have rebuffed such claims. Record and A BOLA both stress that United have not yet paid the money needed to be so confident about an agreement for Amorim, although there are not expected to be any further obstacles in United's path at this point.
