Man Utd reveal cost of dismissing Amorim and his coaching staff | OneFootball

The annual financial results of Manchester United today revealed the cost of dismissing Ruben Amorim and the rest of the coaching staff. A total of €9.5 million (around £8.2 million) was paid out by the Red Devils.

An initial compensation package of €19.4 million (around £16.7 million) had originally been expected. However, if Amorim found a new club by June 2027, that figure would be significantly reduced — which is what happened when the Portuguese coach moved to Serie A side AC Milan.

Sacked in January 2026, after the 1-1  draw with rivals Leeds United in the Premier League, the €9.5 million bill covered not only the departure of the 41-year-old manager, but also of his assistants Carlos Fernandes, Jorge Vital, Adélio Cândido, Emanuel Ferro, Paulo Barreira, and Eduardo Rosalino.

Even so, Omar Berrada, the CEO of the Red Devils, praised the coach's work: "Ruben Amorim deserves a lot of credit. He went through a very difficult season last year and was placed in difficult circumstances, but he helped raise the level," he said.

In the 2025/26 sporting season, which ended on 30 June, Manchester United reported a net loss of €50 million (£43 million), a figure around €11.6 million (£10 million) higher than the previous season. This is the seventh consecutive annual loss for the Manchester club.
