Last month, TalkSPORT reported that Kobbie Mainoo would consider leaving Manchester United before the transfer window closed, provided the right offer came in. The news immediately caught the attention of PSG, with one analyst suggesting the French club should follow the situation closely.
On an earlier episode of the “Ensemble PSG Podcast,” PSG expert Robin Bairner added that although Mainoo didn’t move during the summer, he remains a player the Ligue 1 side should monitor for potential future opportunities.
“I think maybe one to look at might be Kobbie Mainoo at Manchester United,” Bairner said. “I think he’d be an interesting one to look at, just off the top of my head, because he’s clearly an immensely talented player, but he doesn’t really fit into Ruben Amorim’s system.
“Amorim wants players who are all about intensity, whereas there’s a feeling that Mainoo is lacking a little bit of mobility. I think he could potentially fit into a team like PSG where you’ve got that high tariff on technical ability and being able to play in possession.”

Whether PSG would be interested in the young Englishman remains uncertain. However, Football Insider reports, citing sources, that Manchester United are still refusing to let Mainoo leave on loan during the January transfer window.
The report also notes that Mainoo is next in line to step into Amorim’s midfield, following Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes. Nonetheless, with Manchester United in strong form, the England international could find securing a spot in the starting lineup difficult.
Manchester United have claimed victory in their last three Premier League matches, marking their best run under Amorim. As a result, Mainoo may only get an opportunity if either Casemiro or Fernandes faces an injury or suspension.
